This was another short story installment inside Bevan's world with all the fellas (and an awesome raven).I really like these stories because they make me laugh multiple times. I can't tell if this one was a little less raunchy than the rest or if I am just more used to it now, I don't know. I find myself thinking many of the same things the characters say, which probably doesn't say a lot about me...Anyway, my only issue is that now I am craving something with a little more length to it. These shorts are great, but the author has the ability to write more in depth, complicated stories, as the first work in this world was a full length novel. This isn't a complaint, don't misunderstand, they just end too soon and I want more!
The most recent installment, "Creep on the Borderlands", appears to be a little longer than these, and now I'm going to stop writing this review so I can read the new one.

Another masterful and humorous story. A bunch of buds, out adventuring, and having an interesting time accomplishing it. Yeah right, chaos is more like it. Was just laughing my butt off with the situations and banter the dude's get into. It's a fun read, it really is...
If you have ever spent an evening with your friends around a table gaming your way through a Dungeon these stories will have you lost in profound silliness that can only come from such a venture. It should be noted that I would never have found Mr. Bevan nor his works without a timely link from Kismets Gamer Gathering on Facebook. Long live Gaming foolishness!
I got turned on to these stories by a fellow gamer, and I could not put them down. I can't recall the last time a story had me laughing so much, though I do agree the language is a little vulgar. If you know anything about friends and gaming it's to be expected.
Incredibly foul-mouthed. Uproariously funny. Not certain I'd actually pay money for the constant swearing, but there are other books in the series and the potential laughs might overwhelm my squeamishness. Hey, this one was free when I got it. And it kept me up much of the night, and I repeatedly awakened my guy by giggling. That earns some stars.
If you've ever played a table-top RPG, you owe yourself this series. The writing is quick, witty, and raunchy. Robert has a knack for comedy and the absurd. I can’t tell you how many times I thought of or experienced many of the anecdotes he puts the characters through. It may seem like he’s making fun of role playing games, but you’d be wrong. Caverns and Creatures is an open (and comically inappropriate) love letter to the whole hobby, especially the gamers! Very highly recommended.
Robert Bevan's foursome of distressed adventurers, tabletop gamers with dead-end jobs and sad lives, transported to a fantasy world where they are trapped by their own ineptitude and rude behavior. In this sort in the excellent series, Julian, Cooper, Dave and Tim are sneaking into the back way of an underground labyrinth with a questionable guide, and they manage to escape, after many bad decisions, and some unfortunate things happening to magically summoned horses.
This foray into the Caverns and Creatures universe has Tim, Dave, Julian, and Cooper exploring a dungeon conveniently (some might say suspiciously) close to the city that is their base of operations. The humor is trademark Bevan a deft blend of slapstick, sophomoric potty jokes, and a keen insight into the quirks of tabletop gaming. Strong, well-defined characters are the glue that holds it together and makes it work.
As much as I enjoy this story, I would recommend a buyer pick up Mr. Bevan's short story collection "d6" instead. It contains not only this story, but five others set in the C and C universe as well. And much like potato chips, you won't be able to stop with just one.
